So - Welcome to Seussville! This is the first of many emails you will be receiving from me. Each week you will get an email that outlines the upcoming week’s rehearsals and what is expected or needed for that week or for the weeks to come.

Rehearsal Expectations
This weekend the staff will cover expectations with the cast.

Every actor will be provided with a script. Please have your actor bring athree ring binder to rehearsal this week. Actors should bring their script to every rehearsal along with a pencil and a bottle of water and a snack. No food is allowed in the LGI room so the snack should be wrapped and they can eat it during their break.

There isNO GUM allowed at rehearsal.

In order for rehearsals to run smoothly and the actors to get the most out of rehearsal, anyone who has long hair must pull it back in a ponytail or clips and away from their face.

It is also important that actors wear closed toed shoes that are comfortable to dance in.This means no sandals, flip-flops or crocs! They should also wear clothing that is easy to move in. And remember girls, no bra straps or belly buttons showing.

Electronics & Cell Phones
We recommend that actors don’t bring electronics to rehearsal. It is a great place to loose them. If your actor brings electronics to rehearsal and the electronics distract the actor to the point where they don’t pay attention to the rehearsal, they will be taken away and returned at the completion of rehearsal.

We understand the importance of keeping in touch with your actor. Cell phones are allowed at rehearsal, but must remain in a bag or pocket. As with the electronics, if they become a distraction, they will be taken away and returned at the end of the day.

Conflicts & Missing Rehearsal
At the time of auditions, you turned in a conflict calendar. I will be keeping a conflict master calendar and each week we will know ahead of time who will be missing. If you are missing and have not turned that day in as a conflict you will receive a phone call asking where your actor is. I cannot emphasize how important it is that actors attend all rehearsals no matter their role! Each ensemble dancer will have a specific role in their dance and if they are not there, then the choreographer will not know how to place them. Each actor will need to sing the songs in their ensemble dance. If they aren’t there to learn the song, then they won’t be heard by the audience during the show. So it is really important they attend as many rehearsals as possible.

However, if your actor is sick – DO NOT SEND THEM TO REHEARSAL. If someone comes to rehearsal sick, they could infect everyone in the cast and that just wouldn’t be good. So keep sick actors at home.

If a conflict comes up that just can’t be avoided or if your actor is sick, email me as soon as possible so I can get it on the calendar and the staff knows. I usually check email right before I leave the house for rehearsal. So if you email me up to about a half hour before rehearsal, I should get it. Please use theseussical@bayareaetc.org address.

Costume Measurement Forms Online
You can find the costume measurement forms online atwww.bayareaetc.org in the forms section of Seussical Information. Please measure your actor and return the forms by Saturday, January 23.
